In the spirit of the fall season, I picked up this cute little board book for my daughter. We adore the If You Give… series by Laura Numeroff (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is a favorite in our house). In this short board book, Mouse and his friend Dog decorate seven pumpkins with various expressions.

This book is very simple, focusing on nothing but decorating the pumpkins with various faces. It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! is adorably illustrated, just like the other If You Give… books in the series. The pumpkin expressions are cute and accurate without being too scary, which makes it perfect for babies. My 14-month-old and I like to imitate the faces in this one.

The book is cute, and is definitely a seasonal book. Despite this, I still think it’s a cute one to bring out come October.
