Mini Review: Is Your Mama a Llama?

The first time I read this, my “teacher brain” switched on and I thought, “What an awesome book for teaching descriptive writing!”

Is Your Mama a Llama? by Deborah Guarino is a picture book about a  young Llama asking his friends about their mamas.  Each animal responds with a description of his or her maternal figure, and the little llama figures out what animal the mother is based on the descriptors.

I particularly like that this book has the main character figuring things out on his own rather than having others straight-out telling him the answer.

Each page is fully illustrated and colored, with endearing illustrations of Llama and his animal friends set against gorgeous backgrounds.

This picture book would be great for toddlers 18months and up.
